- Derby della Capitale ended 1–1 in a fierce contest featuring two quality goals
- Romagnoli scored just after half-time; Paredes equalised with a stunning long-range strike
- Lazio remained sixth with 56 points, Roma two behind in seventh and extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches
Key Takeaways:
Lazio and Roma met for the third time this season, but unlike the first two encounters—both ending in wins for the Giallorossi—there was no winner today. The Derby della Capitale finished in a 1–1 draw after a physical match with beautiful goals, and this outcome leaves the situation in the standings unchanged for both capital giants.
At the start of the match, supporters of both clubs put on impressive choreographies. Given the home advantage, Lazio’s display was more expansive, covering nearly the entire stadium with depictions of various landmarks from Rome’s history, accompanied by the banner: “Lazio is wherever the Laziali are.”

Roma’s fans countered with a tribute featuring numerous shirts from the club’s history, delivering the message: “One city, one jersey.”
As is often the case in a derby like this, the first yellow card came early—just in the fifth minute—and was shown to Leandro Paredes of the visitors after a foul on Mattia Zaccagni.
From the resulting free kick, the ball found its way to Alessio Romagnoli, who headed from inside the six-yard box, but Mile Svilar pulled off a brilliant save.
Lazio continued to push, and in the 21st minute Gustav Isaksen weaved through several red shirts before firing a powerful shot from a tight angle, but once again Svilar denied him. Nine minutes before half-time, Isaksen was the main threat again, this time finishing a well-worked attack from the right with a diagonal shot—only to be stopped again by Roma’s Serbian goalkeeper.
Early in the second half, however, that wall was finally breached. In a situation similar to the one in the first half, a free kick from the left led to Romagnoli rising above everyone once more, and this time he found the net with a header—1–0 just one minute and eight seconds after the restart. A little over 20 minutes before the end of the match, Roma equalised—and in spectacular fashion. The Argentine unleashed an unstoppable left-footed rocket from over 20 metres out, the ball crashing off the underside of the bar and bouncing over the line to make it 1–1.
Lazio remain sixth in the table with 56 points, while Roma are right behind them in seventh, two points back. The Claudio Ranieri players are now unbeaten in sixteen consecutive league matches, having last suffered defeat against Como in mid-December.
