Manchester United weigh four striker options for summer move

    Key Takeaways:

  • Manchester United eye Gyokeres, Sesko, Osimhen, and Ekitike to strengthen attack
  • Gyokeres, top of club’s list, could be the hardest to sign due to high demand
  • Ekitike appears the most affordable option at around €40 million

Manchester United have four options for a new striker this summer. The club is set to strengthen its attack following an underwhelming season from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, with several key targets already identified.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are considering Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen, and Hugo Ekitike. These four strikers are highly sought after, attracting interest from multiple clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, making competition fierce.

Victor Gyokeres is United’s priority target, thanks to his strong connection with manager Rúben Amorim from their time at Sporting Lisbon. However, securing the Swedish forward is a difficult task as several clubs are chasing his signature, and his price is among the highest.

Manchester United have long had an interest in Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli. The Nigerian striker continues to impress with his goalscoring form, and Napoli are expected to sell him in the summer. His €75 million release clause, coupled with strong interest from Juventus, makes him an expensive option.

Benjamin Sesko is enjoying another strong season at RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old Slovenian is one of the most promising young forwards in Europe and is expected to leave in the coming transfer window. He was close to joining Arsenal in January, but the deal collapsed due to disagreements between the clubs.

Hugo Ekitike appears to be the easiest and most affordable option. The former PSG striker has been outstanding for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, scoring 19 goals and providing 8 assists in 38 matches. His reported €40 million price tag makes him a more realistic target for the Red Devils compared to the other candidates.
