    Key Takeaways:

  • Inter secured a 2-1 victory against Feyenoord to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals with a 4-1 aggregate score
  • Simone Inzaghi reached his 200th match as Inter’s head coach, becoming only the fifth manager in the club’s history to achieve this milestone

Inter made no mistake in the second leg against Feyenoord in the Champions League Round of 16. The Nerazzurri secured a 2-1 victory at the Giuseppe Meazza and advanced to the next stage with a 4-1 aggregate score. Marcus Thuram opened the scoring in the 8th minute, but Jan Moder equalized from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute. The decisive goal for the Italians came from Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who converted a penalty in the 51st minute.

Inter achieved the win despite fielding an unconventional lineup, as key players Lautaro Martínez, Nicolò Barella, Federico Dimarco, and Alessandro Bastoni were rested ahead of crucial Serie A fixtures. Only Bastoni made a second-half appearance. In the final moments, the Milanese side even gave opportunities to some of their younger players to experience the Champions League atmosphere.

The match also marked a milestone for Simone Inzaghi, who became the fifth coach in Inter’s history to reach 200 games in charge across all competitions (since 1929/30), joining Helenio Herrera (368), Roberto Mancini (303), Giovanni Trapattoni (233), and Eugenio Bersellini (207).

With this result, Inter booked their place in the quarter-finals, where they will face a much tougher challenge against Bayern Munich.
