Key Takeaways:
Manchester United showed character and defeated Ipswich 3-2 in a Premier League Matchday 27 clash. Ruben Amorim’s team had to play almost the entire second half with a man down after Patrick Dorgu was sent off following a VAR review late in the first half. The new signing from Lecce was also at fault for the visitors’ opening goal in the 4th minute, as his mistake allowed Jayden Philogene-Bidace to put Ipswich ahead.

Manchester United responded quickly, equalising through an own goal by Sam Morsy. Just four minutes later, Matthijs de Ligt completed the turnaround with a goal from a corner. Shortly after Dorgu’s red card, Philogene-Bidace struck again in first-half stoppage time (45+2’), levelling the score. However, Harry Maguire restored United’s lead in the 47th minute with a header from another corner, which proved to be the winning goal. All three of United’s goals came from set pieces with Bruno Fernandes providing 2 assists.
Following Dorgu’s sending-off, Ruben Amorim reacted by substituting Alejandro Garnacho for Noussair Mazraoui. The decision was met with strong disapproval from the fans, who booed the change at the stadium.
With this victory, Amorim’s side ended a three-match winless streak and climbed to 14th place, having won just three of their last 11 league games. Ipswich remain in the relegation zone, collecting only two points in their last eight matches. The previous meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw.
