Key Takeaways:
Roma secured their place in the Europa League Round of 16 after a 3-2 victory over Porto at the Stadio Olimpico, sealing a 4-3 aggregate win. The Italian side overcame an early deficit to ensure progression, defending Italy’s presence in European competitions following a difficult week for Serie A clubs in the Champions League.

Samuel Omorodion (27’) gave Porto the lead, briefly putting the Portuguese side in control. However, Paulo Dybala (35’, 39’) responded with two goals in quick succession, completing a turnaround before halftime.
Porto’s challenge was further weakened when Steven Eustáquio was sent off in the 51st minute, giving Roma a numerical advantage. Nicolo Pisilli (83’) extended the lead to 3-1, seemingly putting the game beyond doubt. However, Porto managed a late consolation, as Devyne Rensch (90’) inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in stoppage time.
With the victory, Roma remains Italy’s last team in the Europa League, after Milan, Juventus, and Atalanta crashed out of the Champions League earlier in the week.
In the Round of 16, Roma will face either city rivals Lazio or Spain’s Athletic Bilbao, with the draw set to take place on Friday. Meanwhile, Porto’s European campaign comes to an end.
