Feyenoord secured a place in the Champions League Round of 16, knocking Milan out of the tournament after a 1-1 draw at Giuseppe Meazza. Their 1-0 victory in Rotterdam last week proved enough to send them through with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Milan started the second leg in perfect fashion, taking the lead in the first minute through Santiago Giménez. However, the match turned in Feyenoord’s favour in the 51st minute, when Theo Hernández received a second yellow card for simulation, reducing the hosts to ten men. Feyenoord capitalized in the 73rd minute, as substitute Julián Carranza equalized, securing the Dutch club’s progression.

The match ended in controversy, with a heated confrontation between players of both teams after the final whistle. Feyenoord’s Javairô Dilrosun was shown a direct red card, while Milan’s Rafael Leão escaped with only a yellow.

Following the elimination, Milan head coach Sérgio Conceição admitted responsibility, stating that both he and his players had made too many mistakes. Meanwhile, club executive Zlatan Ibrahimović defended Theo Hernández, the player at the centre of Milan’s costly red card incident.
