    Key Takeaways:

  • Aston Villa has completed the signings of Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio, and Axel Disasi in the final days of the January transfer window
  • Rashford joins on loan from Manchester United, wearing the number 9 shirt, with an optional £40 million buy clause
  • Asensio arrives from PSG on loan without a purchase option, while Disasi strengthens the defense with a loan move from Chelsea

Aston Villa has been highly active in the final days of the January transfer window, securing three key signings to reinforce Unai Emery’s squad. Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio, and Axel Disasi have all joined as the club strengthens its push for a strong finish to the season.

The most notable signing came late on Saturday when Villa confirmed the loan deal for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. The forward, who will wear the number 9 shirt, arrives on a season-long loan with the club covering around 70% of his wages. The agreement includes a £40 million non-mandatory buy option, which Villa may activate depending on his performances. Rashford is expected to make his debut against Tottenham in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Shortly after, Aston Villa announced the arrival of Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain. The 29-year-old Spanish international, a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, has joined on loan until the end of the season. Unlike Rashford’s deal, there is no purchase option, but Villa will cover his full salary.

To further strengthen the squad, Axel Disasi completed his move from Chelsea, becoming the club’s third signing in quick succession. The French defender joins on loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy, and Villa will take on his full wages. His addition provides more depth to the defensive unit as the team prepares for the crucial second half of the season in the Premier League and the Champions League.
