Recent comments from NBA insiders have sparked speculation about the possibility of LeBron James being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers. According to Kendrick Perkins, if James requests a trade, the Lakers will “entertain it” and his agent Rich Paul won’t interfere with the process this time around. Perkins stated, “My sources tell me that if LeBron James at any point comes out and says that he wants to be traded or he wants to entertain it, they’re going to entertain it. It ain’t no holding him back.”

Brian Windhorst of ESPN also suggested that there have been conversations in the league about the possibility of James revisiting a trade request at some point this year. Windhorst said, “I would be lying if I said that there isn’t been some conversations in the league, would LeBron at some point this year revisit that.”

Senior Lakers insider Anthony Irwin provided further insight into the team’s approach to a potential James trade. Irwin reported, “Sources close to the Lakers did say that, if James asked the Lakers to trade him, they would work with him to find a deal that lands him where he’d rather be, but also brings back the kind of return that would jumpstart a rebuild.” Irwin also noted that if James is traded, his son Bronny James would likely have to be part of the deal. This suggests that the Lakers are willing to work with James to find a mutually beneficial solution, but also prioritize their own interests in terms of rebuilding the team.
