Thomas Tuchel set to become England manager on January 1st

Thomas Tuchel is set to become the new manager of the England national team, having agreed to an 18-month contract that will see him take charge from January 1, 2025, until the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Tuchel’s appointment has been finalized, with the official announcement expected shortly.

The German coach, known for his tactical prowess and success across top European clubs, expressed his pride in taking on this role, saying, “I’m proud to be here, I’m proud to represent England. I want to put the second star on this shirt.” His ambitions are clear, with Tuchel stating that the target at the 2026 World Cup is nothing short of winning the tournament: “The target is to win it!”

Tuchel has had an illustrious coaching career, leading the teams of Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich. Among his numerous achievements, winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 stands out as the pinnacle, showcasing his ability to guide teams to success on the biggest stage.

Reflecting on his new role, Tuchel addressed concerns over his nationality, emphasizing his passion for English football: “I just have a German passport but all of these supporters can feel my passion for the English Premier League, how I love to work here, how I love to live here, hopefully I can convince them I am proud to be an England manager.”

The Three Lions captain Harry Kane took to social media to show support for the newly appointed manager, saying “Looking forward to playing under the boss again!”
