Benjamin Mendy has voiced his frustrations regarding Manchester City’s handling of his suspension after being falsely accused of serious crimes. Mendy, who was suspended without pay by the club when charged in August 2021, is now seeking £11.5 million in unpaid wages. Reflecting on his experience, Mendy shared: “At no point have Manchester City apologized or even acknowledged how their actions almost cost me everything.”

Mendy expressed his belief that he deserves the wages he lost due to the charges, which were ultimately dropped. He further noted the unfair treatment he felt from the club: “Several Manchester City first team players, including the club captain, were all present at the parties that I attended and hosted. The difference between me and the other Manchester City players is that I was the one that was falsely accused of rape and publicly humiliated.”
The former City defender also revealed how he struggled financially during his suspension: “I struggled to pay my child support. Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez all lent me money to help me try and pay my legal fees and support my family.”
Thе situation has brought to light Mendy’s disappointment with the lack of support from the club during one of the most difficult times of his life, despite his eventual exoneration.
