Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat away to Brighton after leading 2-0 in the first half at the Amex Stadium on Sunday. Goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison put Spurs in control, but a second-half collapse saw the Seagulls score three unanswered goals, turning the match around by the 66th minute. Brighton have now surpassed Tottenham in the Premier League standings, sitting in 6th position with 12 points, while the Spurs are down to 9th on 10 points.

Postecoglou didn’t hide his disappointment after the game. “This was the worst defeat since I’ve signed for Spurs” he said. “I’m frustrated and absolutely gutted with that. The second half was unacceptable. We kind of accepted our fate, and it is hard to understand as we’ve not done that while I’ve been here.”
On a positive note, Brennan Johnson continued his remarkable scoring run, becoming the first player since Harry Kane in January 2019 to score in six consecutive appearances for Tottenham in all competitions. Johnson’s six goals in six games surpass his entire tally from last season, where he netted five times in 34 matches for Spurs. His consistent form has been a bright spot amid the team’s recent struggles.
