Thomas Müller has etched his name in Bayern Munich’s history books, becoming the club’s all-time leader in appearances. The legendary forward made his 710th appearance for Bayern when he came off the bench in a 2-0 victory against Freiburg in the second round of the Bundesliga season. This accomplishment broke the longstanding record of 709 matches set by the iconic goalkeeper Sepp Maier 45 years ago.

Müller, who is now 34, has spent his entire career with Bayern Munich. He joined the club’s youth academy at the age of 11 in 2000 and has never worn the colours of another club. Since making his first-team debut 16 years ago, Müller has been a key figure for Bayern, winning 12 Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal cups, and two Champions League trophies. He also played a pivotal role in Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning campaign.
In the modern football era where few players spend a decade with a single club, Müller’s achievement is particularly remarkable. The record, given its magnitude, is unlikely to be surpassed anytime soon. After entering as a substitute on Sunday, Müller also scored the second goal in Bayern’s 2-0 win over Freiburg, following Harry Kane’s opener from the penalty spot. Bayern Munich has secured six points from their first two Bundesliga matches of the season.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich has confirmed that Kingsley Coman will remain at the club, despite a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. Bayern director Max Eberl stated, “He’s staying with us” when asked about the potential move to Al Hilal. While Bayern had agreed on a fee with Al Hilal, Coman ultimately decided to continue his career in Munich.
