In another move, Liverpool is close to securing one of Euro 2024’s breakout stars, Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The deal, expected to be completed for June 2025, is being finalized with Valencia for a package worth over €30 million. Mamardashvili is set to remain on loan at the Spanish club for the upcoming season.
On the pitch, under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool started the 2024/25 Premier League season with a 0:2 win against Ipswich Town. The Dutch specialist made history as the first Liverpool manager this century to win his Premier League debut. The team also created the most big chances (6) across the opening weekend and recorded 50 touches in the opposition box, the highest for a manager’s first Premier League game since the 2008/09 season.
