Saudi Arabia has made a staggering offer of €1 billion to Vinicius Júnior in an attempt to lure the Brazilian star away from Real Madrid and make him the face of the Saudi Pro League. The offer, which includes a €200 million annual salary over five seasons, is 20 times more than what Vinicius currently earns at Real Madrid. The deal also includes several enticing perks, such as free agency in 2029, the option to return to Europe before the age of 30, any job of his choosing in Saudi Arabia after retirement, and the role of ambassador for the 2034 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia will host.
Despite the eye-watering figures, Real Madrid remains confident that Vini Jr. will reject the offer. Club president Florentino Pérez has made it clear that he has no intention of negotiating Vinicius’ departure. When approached by Saudi representatives, Pérez directed them to speak with Real Madrid CEO José Ángel Sánchez, who firmly stated that any potential transfer would require the triggering of Vinicius’ €1 billion release clause.
Vinicius Júnior, who is considered one of the favourites to win this year’s Ballon d’Or after playing a key role in Real Madrid’s Champions League and LaLiga triumphs last season, is seen as untouchable by the Spanish giants. Los Blancos believe that the player’s commitment to the club and his desire to continue his development at one of Europe’s elite teams will outweigh any financial temptation.
However, even if Vinicius decides to stay with Real Madrid this summer, the offer from Saudi Arabia may not be going away. There is a possibility that the proposal could remain on the table for the future, should the player ever consider a move.
Vinicius and his teammates will be in action on Wednesday, when Real Madrid face Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup Final at PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.
