Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has agreed on a three-year, $91 million maximum extension, bringing his total guaranteed earnings to $131 million over the next five years, as reported by his agent Derrick Powell to ESPN. This makes Allen the third key Cavaliers player to secure a massive new extension this summer, following Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley. The moves solidify the franchise’s status as long-term contenders in the Eastern Conference.

Allen, who was selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets, was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in January 2021 as part of the four-team blockbuster James Harden trade. During the 2023/24 regular season, the center averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He further improved his performance in the playoffs, averaging 17 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Despite Allen’s strong performance, the Cavaliers were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs, losing to the Boston Celtics, who went on to win the NBA championship. With Allen, Mitchell, and Mobley now secured, the Cavaliers are aiming to build on their success and make a deeper playoff run in the upcoming seasons.
