France secured a 1-0 victory against Austria in Düsseldorf, thanks to an own goal by Austrian defender Maximilian Wöber, deflecting a cross from Kylian Mbappé. However, the win was overshadowed by injuries to two of France’s star players, Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann.

Mbappe’s injury occurred when he collided with Kevin Danso inside Austria’s box. Mbappé met a crossed ball but his head collided with Danso’s shoulder, leaving the French star covered in blood and resulting in a broken nose. Despite initial indications that surgery might be necessary, the French national team has decided to manage the injury without immediate surgical intervention.
The French Football Federation released a statement detailing Mbappé’s condition and the steps being taken for his recovery. “Kylian Mbappé returns to the base camp of the French national team” the statement began. “Kylian Mbappé suffered a broken nose during the second part of the Austria-France held this Monday in Düsseldorf. The captain of France was treated first by the medical staff and Dr. Franck Le Gall, who diagnosed him with a nose fracture. Mbappé will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future. A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the French national team can prepare for his return to the competition after a period dedicated to treatment.”
In addition to Mbappé’s injury, Antoine Griezmann also had a scare during the match. In the first half, Griezmann crashed his head into the advertising boards and required stitches. Despite this, he continued to play, showing resilience and dedication to the French team.
