Eric ten Hag provides details on ongoing negotiations with Manchester United

Erik ten Hag shared insights into his relationship with Manchester United and his future with the club in an interview with NOS Studio Voetbal. Reflecting on his unexpected visitors during a holiday, Ten Hag recounted, “Manchester United flew to me in Ibiza to tell me that I was gonna stay. So they disturbed my holiday, they suddenly stood at my doorstep” he said, smiling.

The Dutch manager confirmed that talks are ongoing regarding a new contract with the club. “I’m in talks with Man United over a new deal, yes” Ten Hag stated. “We still have to find an agreement for the new contract. This isn’t easily done, we are still going to have to talk about this.”

Ten Hag also addressed the influence of INEOS, the new investors in Manchester United, and their approach to managing the club. “INEOS are new into football, so it’s normal to take their time and reflect on the season” he explained. “It’s no secret that they talked with multiple candidates for the Man United job, in England, it’s allowed.”

The Dutch manager acknowledged that the Red Devils had considered other managerial candidates, including Thomas Tuchel. “Manchester United have told me that they spoke with Thomas Tuchel, yes” Ten Hag revealed. “They said they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager.”
