The future of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at Napoli has come under intense scrutiny following comments from his father and agent, expressing their concerns and desires for the Georgian winger’s career path. Kvaratskhelia’s father, in an interview with Sport Imedi, stated his discomfort with his son’s situation at Napoli. “I don’t want Khvicha to stay in Napoli,” he said. “He worked with four different coaches in one year, this worries me a lot — he will decide for himself, although it’s uncomfortable for me. I haven’t talked to Khvicha about this topic, and I’m not going to until the end of Euro 2024.”

Adding to the speculation, Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Jugeli, also voiced his concerns and intentions. “We want to leave Napoli, but now we’re all waiting for Euro 2024” Jugeli told Sport Imedi. “With Conte, Napoli have big plans. I’m sure they will qualify for the Champions League again next season and fight for the Scudetto. But that doesn’t mean that Kvaratskhelia wants to stay there, I don’t mean it.”
Jugeli emphasized the importance of Kvaratskhelia’s commitment to his national team, stating, “The most important thing for him is the national team. Our goal is a team that plays in the Champions League. The worst thing is that if he stays here, Khvicha will lose one year because of that… we are worried.”
In response to these statements, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made moves to secure Kvaratskhelia’s future at the club. He has sent a new contract proposal to Kvaratskhelia, which includes a salary increase and a release clause. This move came after initial approaches from Paris Saint-Germain, who have expressed interest in the winger.
Napoli acted fast and issued an official statement to address the speculation: “After Kvaratskhelia’s camp statement, we want to remind that he’s under contract until June 2027. Kvaratskelia is NOT for sale. Player’s agents do NOT decide where they are going, but it’s Napoli deciding when they are under contract.”
