Currently the strongest candidate for Marseille’s job, De Zerbi is engaged in talks with the club’s board. The French team has offered him a three-year deal, running until June 2027. The proposal includes significant terms, with president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Mehdi Benatia involved in the the negotiation process.
Both parties are set to agree on every detail of the contract. The final hurdle is for Marseille to finalize the deal with Brighton, De Zerbi’s last club. His release clause was reduced from €15 million to €6 million when he left Brighton, and this exit fee needs to be settled before the specialist take the reigns at Marseille.
Since his appointment at Brighton in September 2022, De Zerbi has led the Seagulls in 89 matches across all tournaments, recording 38 victories, 20 draws, and 31 defeats.
