“Dear Borussians, even though it pains me greatly right now, I want to inform you that as of today, I will be leaving BVB. It was a tremendous honor to lead this great club to a DFB-Pokal victory and recently to a Champions League final,” Terzić said. “After our final in Wembley, I asked the management for a conversation because, after ten years at BVB, including five years in the coaching team and two and a half years as head coach, I feel that the upcoming restart should be led by a new person.” the 41-year old said.
Terzić, who guided Borussia Dortmund to a DFB Cup victory in 2021, also led the team to finish as runner-up in the 2023 Bundesliga championship and reached the Champions League final in 2024. Following a discussion, the club agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
Terzić’s path from a fan in the stands during the 2013 Champions League final against Bayern Munich, to guiding the team of his heart to this year’s final will always remain in Borussia Dortmund’s folklore.
