The English FA wants to ban West Ham’s midfielder Lucas Paqueta for life after revelations that the Brazilian has deliberately earned yellow cards to affect betting markets. One of the most shocking findings is that West Ham’s shirt sponsor, the company Betway was first to signal the FA about the potential misdemeanour by Paqueta. It has been further revealed that 60 bets have been placed on the West Ham Selecao star to be booked, with one worth a mere £7. If the player is found guilty it will mark a huge financial blow for the London club, as according to Transfermarkt, Paqueta is currently their highest-valued asset with a market value of €65 million.

Last summer the midfielder was heavily linked with Manchester City and there were rumours that Pep Guardiola will try to lure him to the Etihad Stadium in 2024. Lucas Paqueta is currently with Brazil’s national team, preparing to take part in the upcoming Copa America tournament, beginning on June 20th.
