Minnesota Timberwolves destroyed Denver Nuggets last night at Target Center in Minneapolis, winning with 115:70. This was the first time in NBA’s history when the defending champions lose by a margin bigger than 36 points. As evident by their only 70 points, the Nuggets had difficulties all over the court, being outrebounded 62-43 and shot just 30.2% from the field, and 19.4% from distance. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 27 points, and Jaden McDaniels finished the game with 21, while Minnesota’s two big players – Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns caught 14 and 13 boards respectively. For the Nuggets, only the league’s regular season MVP Nicola Jokic performed on high level, concluding the meeting with 22 points and 9 rebounds.

During the game Minnesota had two monster streaks. In the 1st quarter they scored 20 unanswered points to go from 9-2 down to 9:22 up and never let that lead slip. The Nuggets were limited to just 9 points in the last quarter, when the Wolves went on another run, scoring 24 points without a reply. The deciding game 7 of the series will take place at Ball Arena on Sunday, May 19.
