Everton crush Liverpool’s title dreams, handing Klopp first loss at Goodison Park

Last night in the English Premier League was time for the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton. Liverpool visited Goodison Park in search of another 3 points which will keep them in the title race, with their manager Jurgen Klopp never losing at that ground until last night. The Toffees stunned their cross-town rivals, scoring two unanswered goals through Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the 27th and 58th minutes respectively.

Even though, the Reds enjoyed the ball for 77% of the match last night, they failed to break Everton’s defence and are now trailing Arsenal by 3 points at the top of the Premier League standings with just 4 games remaining. A curious fact is that Everton’s previous home victory in the Merseyside derby was achieved over 13 years ago, via the same 2:0 score. Back then the Arsenal’s current manager Mikel Arteta was still part of the Toffees squad and even got on the score sheet.
