Sporting Lisbon’s manager Rúben Amorim has reportedly agreed verbally to take over at Liverpool, Sky Germany has announced. Amorim’s record at Sporting is notable, with 215 matches led, 152 wins, and a total of 456 goals scored under his tenure. This season, Sporting stands out in Europe for scoring an average of 2.93 goals per game and allowing just 8.07 shots per game, the best numbers for any team in Europe’s top five leagues.

Amorim’s contract includes a €30m release clause applicable to Portuguese clubs and a €20m clause for foreign clubs. Interestingly, according to Fabrizio Romano for top clubs making a proposal, only €10m might be required for his summer departure. Liverpool are eager to secure Amorim’s signature but now they will have to negotiate with his club.
At 39, Amorim is among the most promising managerial talents in football today, with Liverpool poised to enter a new chapter under his guidance, after the abdication of the hugely popular and successful Jurgen Klopp. The Portuguese specialist has won the Portuguese title in the 2020/21 season, three times the Portuguese League Cup, and once the Portuguese Super Cup.
