Talking to The Guardian, Real Madrid’s forward Rodrygo Goes has revealed that he almost became part of Liverpool in 2017. Then the Selecao star was still at Santos in his homeland when the Premier League club came knocking. Rodrygo further reveals that both clubs had already a deal in place in the region of 3 million, but it was his personal decision to snub Liverpool.

“It collapsed because I said no”.
“I wanted to stay at Santos, make history, finish my studies and then leave… even though the offer from #LFC was very good”, told Guardian @thiagorabelo1. pic.twitter.com/kG0tp94YGr

Rodrygo points out that even though he has been just 16 years old at the time, he had a clear picture in his head what the future should look like. The forward says he rejected the move because he wanted to finish his studies and make history with Santos before departing for Europe.
Now, 7 years later, Rodrygo has established himself as an integral part of the Real Madrid squad. He has won almost everything in club football, including the Champions League, FIFA’s Club World Cup, LaLiga two times, three times Copa del Rey, and UEFA’s Super Cup.
However, Rodrygo’s place within the Los Blancos squad might be called into question in a couple of months. The club expects Endrick – another Brazilian prodigy to join in the summer and remains strongly linked with Kylian Mbappe, with both players operating in the attacking department.
