Manchester United lose 2 defenders through injuries ahead of Chelsea clash

Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindeloff have become the latest casualties in Manchester United’s battle with injuries this season. It has been revealed that the defensive duo suffers from muscle injuries, but the Red Devils’ staff remains positive that the Argentine and Swedish defenders will play again this term.

In United’s last game against Brentford on Saturday, Martinez began as a starter, and after 69 minutes was replaced exactly by Lindeloff, who finished the match. The 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina has featured in just 11 games in all tournaments this season, and the appearance against Brentford was the first for Martinez since February 4th. As for Lindelof, the Swede has played 27 matches and has missed just 11 meetings due to health issues, while for Martinez, this number jumps to 29 missed encounters because of injuries.

Manchester United have been plagued by injuries throughout the 2023/24 campaign, as there have been registered 55 separate cases within the Red Devils’ squad. Martinez and Lindelof become the latest additions to the club’s treatment room, joining fellow defenders Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw.
