Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel have mutually decided to part ways at the end of the season. It does not come as a suprise as the Bavarian giants are experiencing challenging times, having lost 3 straight games, including the 1st leg of their Champions League clash with Lazio. Tuchel was appointed as Bayern’s manager in March 2023, replacing Julian Nagelsmann, but after less than 12 months, it has become clear that he will not last for too long.
Tuchel stated, “We will end our collaboration after this season, working hard for success until then.” Bayern CEO Dreesen expressed a desire for a “sporting realignment” with a new coach next season, while their focus remains on the Champions League and Bundesliga.

The club is eyeing Xabi Alonso as Tuchel’s successor, aiming for a fresh start in the 2024/25 season. While no formal talks have been confirmed, Alonso is considered open to new challenges, but Bayern will face serious fight for his signature if he chooses to leave Leverkusen, as Liverpool has also registered interest in the Spanish specialist.
Speculation around Tuchel’s replacement has been rampant, with Hansi Flick interested in a role outside Germany according to Fabrizio Romano and Jürgen Klopp taking a break from coaching after this season.
