Barcelona’s ex-player and captain Gerard Pique revealed on social media that he plans on returning to football, but in a coaching role.
Pique’s statement reads: “It’s a new year, and after thinking it over carefully, I’ve decided to return to football. I really miss it. This time, it won’t be as a player. It will be as a coach. I’ll share more details at the end of the week.”
Es un nuevo año y después de pensarlo detenidamente he decidido volver al fútbol. Lo echo mucho de menos. Esta vez no será como jugador. Será como entrenador. Compartiré más detalles al final de la semana.

Pique is a product of Barca’s La Masia, but broke in the first team after a spell with Manchester United in the Premier League. The former central defender has won a total of 30 titles with the Catalan giants. The trophies include 9 LaLiga triumphs, 3 Champions League titles, 2 European Super Cups, and 3 Club World Cups.
With the Spanish national team, Pique was crowned as World Champion in 2010 and also won the European championship in 2012. He officially retired from football days before the World Cup in Qatar, in early November of 2023.
