“Yes, I want to organise such a farewell match. And I will do it. We just need to find the right time. It’s not easy. I want to bring Cristiano and Messi together. I’ll go get them myself,” said the former Argentina forward.
When specifically asked if the two great rivals would play on opposing teams during the match, Tevez made it clear that his goal is to have them on the same side.
The former striker played with Messi for the Argentina national team between 2005 and 2015. He also shared the pitch with Ronaldo at Manchester United, where they won two Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy together.
The 41-year-old Tevez stated that he still maintains contact with both players. He also revealed a list of other major names he intends to invite for the event:
“Edwin van der Sar will be in one team, and Buffon in the other. At centre-back we’ll probably have Rio Ferdinand, Vidic, Chiellini, Bonucci. Patrice Evra, my brother, must be there too. Midfielders… Andrea Pirlo, Paul Scholes, Riquelme will definitely be there. Rooney will be in attack.”
