Just two weeks ago, the Italian sports daily reported that Roberto De Zerbi was the main target of Milan’s board for the coaching position, but that has changed following a complete overhaul of the club’s sporting leadership.

Milan executives recently met with Igli Tare, who is expected to become the club’s next sporting director. According to the newspaper, Sergio Conceicao will not remain in charge even if the team qualifies for European tournaments. His contract includes a clause allowing either party to terminate the deal before its scheduled expiry in 2026.
One of Tare’s assignments will be to appoint an Italian coach, after the team was led by two consecutive Portuguese managers — Paulo Fonseca and Conceicao. The former Albanian international favours the experience of Max Allegri, who has been unemployed for a year following his stint with Juventus. Allegri has won the Serie A title six times, including once with Milan in 2011.
