    Key Takeaways:

  • La Liga reaffirmed its position, declaring the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor unlawful
  • The league will file a complaint against Barcelona’s former auditor over the financial reporting
  • Temporary permissions for both players expire on April 7, pending a final decision from the Sports Board

La Liga has issued an official statement, once again reigniting its conflict with Barcelona regarding the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. The league has once more labelled the registrations as unlawful and announced its intention to file a formal complaint against Barcelona’s former auditor, who worked at Camp Nou until the end of last year.

Both players were denied registration in January after La Liga deemed the club’s reported income from the sale of VIP boxes at its under-construction stadium as invalid. According to the league, the transaction had not been completed in time, and the declared revenue could not be included in the financial statements. As a result, Barcelona was unable to raise its salary cap, which would have permitted the legal registration of the two players.

During the first half of the season, both Olmo and Víctor were allowed to play under temporary registrations granted due to long-term injuries in the squad. However, the league maintains that the conditions for full registration were not met.

Barcelona rejected the accusations and appealed to a local court, which ruled against the club. The case was then escalated to the Sports Board, which granted temporary registrations for the two players. These are set to expire on April 7.

A new decision from the Sports Board is expected in the coming days, but La Liga has already reiterated its firm stance, once again declaring the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor unlawful.
