    Key Takeaways:

  • Nottingham Forest beat Manchester United for the second time this season with a narrow 1:0 win
  • Former United player Anthony Elanga scored the winner in the 5th minute
  • Forest remain 3rd in the standings and strengthen their Champions League ambitions

Nottingham Forest recorded their second win over Manchester United this season, edging a 1:0 home victory in the 30th round of the Premier League. Interestingly, the hero for the hosts was former United academy product Anthony Elanga, who netted the only goal of the match in the 5th minute.

The visitors will have plenty of regrets, as they were the more active of the two sides and created several chances in front of Matt Sels’ goal. However, they once again showed their old attacking weakness and failed to find the net. With this win, Forest consolidated third place and can now realistically dream of a Champions League spot.

In the end, Nottingham climbed to 57 points in third place, maintaining a four-point gap behind second-placed Arsenal and pulling eight clear of fourth-placed Chelsea. Manchester United, meanwhile, remain in 13th with 37 points.

United manager Ruben Amorim admitted he could not understand how his side lost the match at Nottingham Forest. According to the Portuguese coach, not only should they have earned at least a draw, but they even deserved to win the game.
