Fifa's 2025 Club World Cup trophy

    Key Takeaways:

  • The winner of the inaugural edition of the new Club World Cup format could earn up to $125 million
  • Total prize fund for the tournament stands at $1 billion, with an additional $250 million in solidarity payments
  • Group stage victories and progression through knockout rounds will bring incremental financial rewards

FIFA has confirmed that the champion of the first edition of the new-format Club World Cup could walk away with a staggering $125 million in prize money. The global football governing body announced that the overall prize fund for the 32-team competition will be $1 billion, which will be distributed among all participating clubs. In addition to that, $250 million will be allocated as solidarity payments to clubs not competing in this edition of the tournament.

The exact earnings for each team will also depend on their results in the group stage, where each side is guaranteed to play three matches. A win in the group stage will bring in $2 million, while a draw will yield $1 million. Progression to the Round of 16 will secure another $7.5 million, with an additional $13.125 million available for reaching the quarter-finals.

Reaching the semi-finals will earn clubs a further $21 million. The champion will then receive $40 million for winning the final, while the runner-up will collect $30 million.

Out of the $1 billion prize pool, $525 million will be distributed solely as participation fees to the clubs involved in the competition. The remaining $475 million will be awarded based on sporting performance.
