    Key Takeaways:

  • Rangers dismissed Philippe Clement after a 2-0 loss to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership
  • The decision comes despite the club securing Europa League knockout qualification and winning four straight league matches before the defeat
  • Clement, who joined in 2023, led Rangers to a Scottish League Cup triumph during his tenure

Rangers have parted ways with head coach Philippe Clement following a 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren in the 27th round of the Scottish Premiership. The decision comes despite reports earlier in the week that the club’s board remained supportive of the Belgian coach.

Rangers currently sit second in the league, 13 points behind Celtic. Before the loss to St Mirren, they had won four consecutive league matches and secured direct qualification to the Europa League Round of 16 after finishing eighth in the new league phase of the competition.

Clement, who previously managed Club Brugge and Monaco, took charge of Rangers in 2023. Under his guidance, the team won the Scottish League Cup in his first season at Ibrox.
