PSG crush Brest on their way to Champions League’s next round

Bradley Barcola shoots towards Brest's goal

    Key Takeaways:

  • Paris Saint-Germain recorded their biggest-ever win in European competitions with a 7-0 demolition of Brest
  • Brest suffered the heaviest defeat for a French club in Champions League history, losing 10-0 on aggregate
  • PSG have now scored 18 goals against Brest this season across all competitions

Paris Saint-Germain delivered a ruthless performance to overpower Brest 7-0 in the second leg of their Champions League playoff tie, securing a place in the round of 16 with a commanding 10-0 aggregate victory. The Parisians will now prepare for a tougher challenge against either Barcelona or Liverpool in the next stage.

The result marks PSG’s largest-ever win in European competitions, while Brest endured the worst defeat by a French club in Champions League history. It was the latest chapter in a dominant run against Brest this season, as Luis Enrique’s side had already beaten them 3-1 in Ligue 1 in September, followed by a 5-2 win earlier this month and a 3-0 victory in the first leg of the tie.

Despite having effectively secured qualification in the first leg, PSG showed no signs of complacency. Bradley Barcola opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia netted his first Champions League goal for the club just before half-time.

The second half saw the hosts run riot, as Vitinha (59’), Désiré Doué (64’), Nuno Mendes (69’), and Gonçalo Ramos (76’) all found the net. Youngster Senny Mayulu added the final goal to complete the emphatic scoreline, sending PSG into the round of 16 in dominant fashion.
