    Key Takeaways:

  • Chelsea secured a 2-1 comeback victory against West Ham, moving back into the Premier League top four
  • Jarrod Bowen had given West Ham the lead in the first half after a mistake by Levi Colwill
  • Pedro Neto equalized in the 64th minute before an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal sealed the win for Enzo Maresca’s side

Chelsea returned to the Premier League top four with a 2-1 victory over West Ham at Stamford Bridge, overcoming a halftime deficit to secure three points. Enzo Maresca’s team found themselves behind after Jarrod Bowen capitalized on a defensive error, but second-half goals from substitute Pedro Neto and an own goal by Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned the match around.

West Ham opened the scoring in the 42nd minute following a costly mistake by Levi Colwill. Under pressure from Mohammed Kudus, the Chelsea defender misplaced a pass meant for goalkeeper Jørgensen, allowing Bowen to intercept and finish clinically. Colwill briefly protested for a foul, but the goal stood.

After halftime, Maresca responded with substitutions, bringing on Pedro Neto and Marc Guéhi in place of Sancho and Jackson. Later, Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku replaced Reece James and Noni Madueke as Chelsea pushed for an equalizer.

The changes had the desired impact, with Neto leveling the score in the 64th minute. The Portuguese winger first delivered a dangerous cross that went untouched, but after Enzo Fernández’ shot was blocked, the ball came back to Neto, and he slotted it into the net.

Chelsea completed the turnaround ten minutes later when Cole Palmer’s cross was deflected by Wan-Bissaka into his own net. The hosts continued to press, and Palmer came close to scoring again, but his effort went just wide.
