Ademola Lookman will be unavailable for Atalanta’s Champions League clash against Barcelona on Wednesday due to a knee injury. The Nigerian forward sustained the injury during a training session on Monday and will not travel with the team to Catalonia. Instead, Lookman will remain in Bergamo for medical tests to assess the severity of the problem.

While the exact nature of the injury is not yet confirmed, Italian media reports indicate that Lookman could face up to a month on the sidelines. This comes as a blow to Atalanta, given Lookman’s key contributions this season, where he has scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists in 27 matches across all competitions.

Last December, Lookman was honored as Africa’s Best Player for 2024. The 27-year-old joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 for €9.3 million. Notably, he scored a hat-trick in last season’s Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen and has a total of 46 goals in 105 appearances for the club.
