  • Chelsea and Bayern have already held discussions regarding Nkunku’s potential move
  • Bayern Munich insists Nkunku is a top target, while Chelsea has inquired about Mathys Tel during negotiations

Christopher Nkunku has expressed a strong interest in joining Bayern Munich, provided the two clubs can agree on a transfer fee. While Chelsea and Bayern have already initiated talks about the move, Nkunku is reportedly eager for a new chapter, motivated by the desire for more playing time. Personal terms are not expected to pose any hurdles, leaving the decision to the negotiating clubs.

Despite the ongoing talks, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca stated, “Christopher Nkunku did not tell me that he wants to leave. We didn’t talk about his future.” However, sources confirm that Bayern Munich continues to pursue Nkunku as a top target while Chelsea eyes Bayern’s young French talent Mathys Tel as part of the discussions.

Chelsea has recently initiated contact with Bayern to gather information on Tel’s situation. Bayern’s director Christoph Freund commented on the Londoners’ interest, saying, “Mathys is a great talent and should play an important role for us. Our clear goal is for Mathys to make his breakthrough with us. Of course, if a player is unhappy, we can talk about it. But we are very happy with him.”

Tel, who spoke with Bayern manager Vincent Kompany more than a week ago, has reiterated his ambition to succeed at the German club. While the Bavarian giants remain committed to retaining the young forward, Chelsea’s inquiries during the Nkunku negotiations underline their interest in potentially bringing Tel to Stamford Bridge.

With both Nkunku’s and Tel’s futures intertwined in these discussions, the ongoing negotiations between Chelsea and Bayern Munich could shape the January transfer window for both clubs.
