AC Milan made a stunning comeback to claim their eighth Italian Super Cup title, defeating city rivals Inter 3-2 in a thrilling final held in Saudi Arabia. Inter took a two-goal lead, thanks to strikes from captain Lautaro Martínez in the 45+1′ minute and Mehdi Taremi in the 47th minute. However, Milan turned the game around with a series of impressive goals, starting with Theo Hernández’ free-kick strike in the 52nd minute. The Rossoneri continued to push forward, and their efforts paid off when Christian Pulisic scored in the 80th minute. Just when it seemed the match was headed for extra time, substitute Tammy Abraham scored the winning goal in the 90+3′ minute, securing Milan’s victory.

This triumph marks a significant milestone for Milan, as it is their 50th trophy in their illustrious history and their first Super Cup win since 2016, when they defeated Juventus on penalties. The Rossoneri had previously overcome Juventus in the semi-final this year, once again pulling off a comeback. The win is also a testament to the team’s new head coach, Sérgio Conceição, who celebrated his first trophy in just his second match in charge. On the other hand, Inter missed the chance to win a record fourth consecutive Super Cup and are now tied with Milan at eight titles apiece, trailing Juventus who hold nine.

The victory gives Milan a 2-1 edge over Inter in Super Cup clashes and is their second win over their city rivals this season. It is particularly significant, as it follows a stretch of six consecutive losses to the Nerazzurri. The reigning Italian champions have only suffered three defeats across all competitions this season, two of which were inflicted by Milan.
