Cleveland Cavaliers defeat Denver Nuggets despite another historic Jokic achievement

The Cleveland Cavaliers secured a 126-114 victory over the Denver Nuggets in a high-energy clash, improving their record to 20-3 overall and 13-1 at home. With this win, Cleveland became the first team this season to reach 20 victories. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 28 points, while Cleveland achieved a season-high 22 three-pointers. The team showcased offensive balance, with four players scoring 20 or more points: Mitchell (28), Darius Garland (24), Caris LeVert (21), and Evan Mobley (20).

Despite being outscored 76-40 in the paint by Denver, Cleveland built an 18-point second-half lead. The Nuggets rallied to cut the deficit to nine points, but the Cavaliers responded strongly to secure the win. Nikola Jokic delivered a historic performance for Denver, recording 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists for his 139th career triple-double. This achievement moved Jokic past Magic Johnson for the third-most triple-doubles in NBA history.

The loss dropped Denver to an 11-9 record on the season, while Cleveland’s dominance, particularly from beyond the arc, solidified their position as the league’s top team.
