Newcastle and Liverpool end in entertaining 3-3 draw, Salah with brace and assist

Newcastle United ended Liverpool’s seven-match winning streak across all competitions with a dramatic 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park. The Magpies showcased their strong home form, taking the lead twice through Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon before Fabian Schar secured a late equalizer in the 90th minute. Liverpool responded with goals from Curtis Jones, who celebrated his 150th club appearance, and Mohamed Salah.

Salah’s second-half heroics, including an assist and the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute, briefly gave Liverpool the advantage. The Egyptian star also set a new Premier League record by becoming the first player to both score and assist in 37 matches, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s mark set in 2016. However, Liverpool’s hopes for an eighth consecutive victory were dashed in the final moments when a misjudged cross by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher allowed Fabian Schar to score a late equalizer.

The Magpies continue to impress at St. James’ Park, extending their unbeaten home run, having avoided defeat against top sides like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham. Despite the strong display, Newcastle remains without a win against Liverpool in 16 consecutive meetings. The draw last night trimmed Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to seven points, offering their rivals a glimmer of hope in the title race.
