Minnesota Timberwolves dominate the Lakers holding them to season-low 80 points

The Minnesota Timberwolves delivered a commanding 108-80 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, showcasing stellar defense and efficient offense. Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert led the Timberwolves with 18 and 17 points, respectively, while their defense limited the Lakers to their lowest scoring output since 2017. Minnesota excelled in transition and three-point shooting, converting 15 of 35 attempts from beyond the arc. Minnesota’s dominant defensive effort secured them a 10-10 balance as they prepare to face the Los Angeles Clippers next.

The Lakers struggled offensively, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis having disappointing performances. James scored just 10 points in 30 minutes, shooting 4 of 16 from the field and posting a game-worst -28 on the floor. Davis added 12 points, but the team’s offensive woes persisted. Despite D’Angelo Russell’s 20-point effort in his return to the lineup, the Lakers suffered their fifth loss in seven games, dropping to a 12-9 record. Post game Lakers head coach JJ Redick highlighted areas for offensive improvement, emphasizing the need for greater fluidity. “Overall, more body and ball movement” he remarked, pointing to adjustments that could help address the team’s recent struggles, as they aim to bounce back in their upcoming game against the Miami Heat.
