Guardiola and his backroom staff have approved all documents, finalizing the deal. According to reports from The Athletic, Guardiola had initially hinted at a possible departure earlier in the season but has since decided to continue his long-term project with City.
This new deal means Guardiola’s time at Manchester City will surpass a decade, marking one of the longest managerial tenures in the Premier League. His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season. The club currently occupies 2nd position in the Premier League standings, trailing leaders Liverpool by 5 points after the opening 11 games. Manchester City will host Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, aiming to end a four-game losing streak across all competitions. Despite this being the longest negative run of Guardiola’s career, his new deal reflects the board’s strong trust in the Spaniard.
