Benzema comments on pressure at Real Madrid, leadership crisis, and Mbappe’s new role

Karim Benzema shared his insights on Kylian Mbappe’s position and role at Real Madrid, saying, “For me, Mbappe is not a 9. He’s a left winger.” Benzema went on to explain the challenge Mbappe would face if he joined Real Madrid as a left winger, adding, “But the problem is that at left wing, there’s Vinicius Jr who’s the best in the world.”

Reflecting on the high expectations at Los Blancos, Benzema highlighted the intense pressure that comes with playing for the club: “Mbappe knows that there is a lot of pressure at Real Madrid. At Madrid, you go 2, 3 matches without goals, they’ll k*ll you. You can win the Ballon d’Or and you don’t score in 3 matches after it, the same.”

Benzema addressed the overall atmosphere at Real Madrid, acknowledging the pressure the club always holds, and noted, “The pressure at Real Madrid is very strong. The problem is that they have the best players in each position. So it’s very complicated. But this is Real Madrid, pressure will always be there. The squad needs to calm down so they can win again.”

He also commented on the team’s current dynamics, mentioning the scarcity of experienced leaders: “Real Madrid missing leaders? It’s complicated because they are all so young, there are many games in Madrid, there’s only Luka Modric, but he doesn’t play all the games.”
