Tottenham eliminates Manchester City, United scores 5 past Leicester in the Carabao Cup

Tottenham caused a major upset in the Carabao Cup last night by defeating Manchester City 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals. Timo Werner and Pape Sarr scored early goals for Tottenham, while Matheus Nunes pulled one back for City. Stefan Ortega’s impressive saves and Yves Bissouma’s crucial block helped Tottenham secure the win. Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola praised his team’s performance despite the loss, highlighting their courage and solidarity. Tottenham’s manager Ange Postecoglou was pleased with his team’s display, especially after a disappointing result in the Premier League earlier this week.

In their first match after Erik Ten Hag’s sacking, Manchester United secured a convincing 5-2 win over Leicester City with two goals from Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, and one from Alejandro Garnacho. Newcastle United also caused an upset by defeating Chelsea 2-0, with Alexander Isak and an own goal from Axel Disasi sealing the victory.

Arsenal comfortably defeated Preston 3-0, with Ethan Nwaneri scoring a brilliant goal from outside the box. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz also found the back of the net for the Gunners. Crystal Palace advanced to the next round by defeating Aston Villa 2-1 in Birmingham. Liverpool continued their impressive form by prevailing 3-2 over Brighton and setting up a clash with Southampton in the quarter-finals. The quarter-final matches are set to take place in mid-December.
