Jokic powers Denver past Brooklyn with a historic triple-double performance

Nikola Jokic continues to be the driving force for the Denver Nuggets, a fact that was evident once again in their last night 144-139 overtime victory against the Brooklyn Nets. The Serbian center delivered an incredible performance that took statisticians back over six decades in NBA history. Jokic played 40 minutes, recording 29 points, 18 rebounds, and 16 assists. With these numbers, he became just the second player in NBA history to achieve such a stat line, joining Oscar Robertson, who last accomplished this feat 62 years ago.

Supporting Jokic’s efforts were Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, each contributing 24 points, while veteran Russell Westbrook made a strong impact off the bench, adding 22 points, including a perfect 10/10 from the free-throw line.

Jokic showcased his clutch abilities by scoring six of Denver’s final eight points in regulation, including a hook shot with 8.1 seconds remaining that tied the game at 125-125. In overtime, he added another six points, securing Denver’s second win of the season and proving once again why he is the league’s reigning MVP.
