Manchester United have parted ways with manager Erik ten Hag following a series of disappointing performances, including Sunday’s 2-1 loss to West Ham. The Dutchman departs with United languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, managing just 11 points from nine matches in their worst league start ever. Despite his achievements, which include securing a trophy in each of his two full seasons, the club’s recent form prompted leadership to make a change. Ten Hag’s overall record at United stands at 72 wins, 20 draws, and 36 losses across 128 matches.

Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined ten Hag’s coaching staff after a one-season stint managing PSV Eindhoven, will take over as interim manager. Should he find success in stabilizing the team’s form, van Nistelrooy could secure the position on a permanent basis. Meanwhile, Manchester United has reportedly reached out to Sporting to explore a potential deal for Ruben Amorim, who is rumoured to be a leading candidate to fill the managerial vacancy. Portuguese outlet Abola goes even further and claims that Amorim will be announced very soon by the Red Devils, taking the posiiong on a three season deal worth €7m/€8 million per year.
