Jose Mourinho jokes he still dreams of winning the Premier League title with Manchester United ahead of Old Trafford return with Fenerbahce

Josе Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is set to face Manchester United at Old Trafford tomorrow in a much-anticipated Europa League clash. In his pre-match press conference, the Portuguese manager reflected on his time at United and shared his thoughts on various topics, including the club’s current situation and his own team’s chances.

Mourinho, who managed United between 2016 and 2018, looked back fondly on his stint at the club. “I wish all the best to Man United. I’ve been happy there, we won the Europa League, second in the league” he said. “I left United with good feelings for both clubs and fans. If things are not working for Man United, I’m never happy.”

Mourinho humourously touched on the controversial 2017/18 Premier League season, where his Red Devils finished second to Manchester City. “I think Man Utd still have a chance to win that league if they punish Manchester City. In that case, I hope they give me my medal and pay me the bonus!” he joked.

Regarding the news about Sir Alex Ferguson being removed from his role at the club under the new INEOS regime, Mourinho was empathetic. “Sir Alex has the most important thing, which is the love and respect of every Man United fan around the world.”

The Fenerbahce coach also shared his views on who the Europa League favourites are, listing two of his former clubs. “Man United and Tottenham are the two favourites” he remarked.
