Real Madrid target Trent Alexander-Arnold as long-term replacement for Carvajal

Following the injury to Daniel Carvajal, which has sidelined him for a prolonged period, Real Madrid have wasted no time in exploring options to fill the right-back position. Among the many names discussed internally, one name stands out as the club’s favorite: Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool star, whose contract runs until 2025, has so far rejected all renewal proposals from the Premier League club, with the latest offer still unanswered. This contract uncertainty has opened the door for Real Madrid, who are closely monitoring the situation.

Reports suggest that Real Madrid are prepared to make a pre-contract offer to Alexander-Arnold in January 2025, should he fail to agree to a new deal with Liverpool. Some rumors in Spain even speculate that the Spanish giants may submit a £10 million bid as early as January 2024 to take advantage of the right-back’s contract situation.

The strategy Real Madrid is adopting for Trent Alexander-Arnold mirrors their approach to another transfer target, Alphonso Davies. Both players are seen as ideal reinforcements, and if no contract renewals are agreed upon, the club will wait until January 2025 to make their moves.
