Zubimendi had been linked with a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but negotiations failed to materialize, with the midfielder choosing to stay at Sociedad. City, however, are now keen to capitalize on Zubimendi’s unresolved contract situation.
Another name reportedly on City’s radar is Torino’s Samuele Ricci, with the club assessing multiple options to fill the void left by Rodri’s absence. Torino’s director, Davide Vagnati, spoke about Ricci’s potential, stating: “He’s capable of playing for any coach or club. No comment on Man City. We signed Ricci very young, an important investment, spent big money, so we trust him.”
As speculation continues, Pep Guardiola has addressed concerns about City’s performance without Rodri, emphasizing that blaming results solely on his absence is an oversimplification. “Conceding goals because of Rodri’s absence? I think it’s so easy to say this analysis. With Rodri, we drew two games – and without him, we won all the games this season!” the Spanish manager remarked. “We’ll reflect on what we’re missing to be more consistent.”
